Dental Bonding
Bonding is ideal for solving a range of problems in a single visit to clinic. Although excellent as a permanent solution, it can also serve as a temporary solution before you receive your long-term restoration. Using resin in the same colour as your teeth, we can make a correction that is imperceptible to everyone except you and your dentist.
What Can Bonding Fix?
We use bonding for a wide range of cosmetic purposes, including for:
- Damage like chips and cracks
- Discolouration
- Cavities, as an alternative to amalgam fillings
- Gaps between teeth
- Misshapen, too-short, and worn-down teeth
- Protecting a tooth root exposed due to gum recession
What Does Dental Bonding Involve?
We start by choosing a material that matches the colour of your teeth. Usually, there is no need to for anesthesia, unless the bonding is for decay. Sometimes, we need to remove a small amount of your tooth enamel, but in many cases the natural tooth stays intact. Once the tooth is prepared, we apply the bonding directly to the tooth, mold it into shape, and cure it with a special light.
Protecting Your Bonded Tooth
To maximize the lifespan of the bonding, you will need to treat your repaired tooth in the same way as your natural teeth, brushing every day and receiving regular dental checkups. To avoid chips, never use your bonded tooth to open packaging or bite hard objects — only use it for chewing food.
