Veneers and dental bonding Mississauga are two options to improve your smile. Although they solve many of the same problems, they are very different. To decide what would be best for you, consider the various benefits of each.

Natural Look

Veneers can lead to a more natural look in cases where problems are extensive, such as for discolouration, poor spacing, and poor shape. However, for minor problems, dental bonding can lead to great results.

Procedure Time

Veneers require two trips to the dentist, whereas dental bonding only requires one. This is because your dentist needs to first prepare your teeth, removing a small amount of the surface, and then needs to wait for your restoration to be made in a dental lab. You will receive a temporary veneer while you wait.

Dental bonding, on the other hand, requires no prior preparation. You can receive full treatment in a single visit.

Lifespan

Veneers can last decades, whereas dental bonding tends to need replacing every few years. This is because veneers are more resistant to staining, including stains from coffee, wine, and cigarettes. However, you can decrease the chances of dental bonding becoming stained by changing your diet, quitting smoking, and maintaining a good oral hygiene routine.

Neither option is a strong as natural teeth. You will need to avoid biting anything but food to prevent damage.

Permanency

As a veneer requires removing some of the enamel of your tooth, you will always need to have a veneer on the tooth. In contrast, dental bonding is removable, meaning you can use it as a temporary solution.

Cost

Dental bonding is a simple procedure. It tends to be significantly less expensive than veneers.

Medical Purposes

Both veneers and dental bonding are cosmetic procedures. However, they can also have medical purposes. For instance, they can cover exposed roots due to receding gums.
